Friday, July 6th, 2012

Our area is Gorey, in Co.  Wexford, it is a market town, just 3. miles form the seaside resort of Courtown Harbour, surrounded by hills and Valleys.  Croghan Mountain which is in the Background was famous for Gold found there, there was mining for many years, but where the gold found in the river was coming from was never found, people come to pan in the river still, and find pieces.  We are located just 1. hour drive from Dublin, Waterford, Kilkenny, so this is a ideal place to stay for the Tourists travelling West, they can take in the Enniscorthy Castle, Johnstown Castle, Kennedys Homestead, the Dunbrody Famine Ship, and tour the Beautiful Wicklow Mountains, visit the Historic Jail at Wicklow  town, take a trip to Dublin, and then the Waterford Glass Factory, and Kilkenny Castle, all in day trips, before going on to Killarney and the Ring of Kerry.  Here in the South East we get much better weather than the South or West.  It takes 1. hour 15 minutes to Dublin Airport in normal times.

This post was written by Philomena O’Sullivan from Woodlands Country House in Gorey, where they greet guests with complimentary tea/scones on arrival.  It is a 5. Star house. with two acres of gardens, a river walk and sitting area by a small lake where you can relax in privacy all day if you wish, surrounded by trees, or even sun bathe.  Complimentary tea/coffee and home made scones with preserves are served any time.

“We love our business, and the guests just love this place! We are open from 1st April to 30th September.”
