Vinalhaven is a wonderful island off the coast Maine. You take a ferry ride from Rockland, and after an hour and twenty minutes of enjoying the ride accross Penobsot Bay you arrive at this terrific little lobstering village. Vinalhaven is one of the few island supported almost solely from the lobster industry. It is very non-commercial, and therefor a great place to enjoy a relaxing vacation. Hiking, biking and kayaking are the entertainment of choice on the island, as is swimming in the silky smooth water of the quarries. Due to the natural beauty of the island, many artists find this a perfect retreat, and even those without artistic talents tend to find themselves inspired. There is no better place to relax and enjoy a revitalizing vacation.
